Dunnottar Castle

A romantic, evocative and historically significant ruined Castle, perched on a giant conglomorate on the edge of the North-Sea. Once seen - never forgotten. Visit Dunnottar Castle for an unforgettable experience and discover the importance of Dunnottar - an impregnable fortress that holds many rich secrets of Scotland's colourful past.

fettercairn distillery

Fettercairn distillery has been in operation since 1824, making it one of Scotland's oldest malt whisky distilleries. This area is one of Scotland's most fertile regions, and is why Fettercairn is hidden amongst its forests and glens. These distinct characteristics combine to produce a balanced malt whisky with a fine character.

Potarch Hotel

Café & Restaurant is located next to Potarch Lodge, the Café & Restaurant has a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We aim to consistently offer a wholesome menu using local, fresh and seasonal produce. During the summer, relax on our decking area and enjoy your meal with a glass of wine or locally brewed ale, while looking out over Potarch Green and across the fields to the River Dee.

Royal Lochnagar distillery

Neighbouring Balmoral Castle, Royal Lochnagar is the perfect place to discover how Scotch Whisky is made. Watch as our team of operators tend to our traditional mashtun, gleaming copper stills and fill casks at our traditional distillery, which retains much of its original charm.

Royal deeside

In the heart of Scotland lies the magnificent valley of the River Dee. Rising high in the Cairngorm Mountains and running east to its mouth at Aberdeen the river flows through some of Scotland's finest scenery. Midway, in the shadow of Lochnagar mountain, lies royal Balmoral Castle, summer home of the Royal Family.

ROYAL LOCHNAGAR

A classic, 19th century site retaining much of its original charm, the tradition of handcrafting whisky is still being honoured here. Neighbouring Balmoral Castle, the Lochnagar Distillery, produces smooth, rich tasting single malts full of flavour, worthy of a royal seal of approval which was bestowed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1984. A well-bred dram, Royal Lochnagar doesn't dominate but instead offers a light fruity personality that really needs to be tried in its birthplace.

FETTERCAIRN

Loosely based on the phrase "foot of the mountain" Fettercairn has been producing some of Scotland's finest malts since 1824 at the foot of the beautiful Grampian foothills. We'd love to tell you about the unique stills that make Fettercairn the uniquely pure spirit that enticed Whyte and Mackay to acquire it in 1973 but we'd rather you experienced them for yourself.
